"Chinese Spring III" was inspired by the colours present in Buddhist and Daoist monasteries in China. I painted it after my travel from Hong Kong. The exotic colours that I experienced while being there, struck me and left an everlasting impression. I was lucky to explore the Po Lin monastery when I visited Lantau Island, right next to Hong Kong Island. The monastery was on top of a mountain, and it took many hours before I reached it. The views there were spectacular, especially from the Buddha statue. One could see many islands shining in the sun, surrounded by sea. Of course, everyone has the right to see other things, which is why abstract paintings are so wonderful.
